Love comes in many forms, many facets, but in the end...Love is Love, with absolutely NO BOUNDARIES. A testament of love without boundaries was the wedding of Stephanie + Theresa. The beautiful ladies, inside and out, who met at work, flirted and eventually fell in love. Marriage equality, while acceptable in many states of our country, was not recognized in our State of Texas when these gals first became engaged. Fortunately, their employer recognized marriage equality and benefits, so this celebration was destined to be symbolic. Many times we joked around about Marriage Equality becoming legal in Texas by the time their wedding came around. To our most beautiful surprise, midway through the planning, SCOTUS recognized Marriage Equality nationwide! What was going to be a union celebration, now was truly going to be a wedding celebration!
The wedding of Stephanie + Theresa evolved into a celebration of equality, a celebration with families, an evolution of society recognizing that Love truly does win! In keeping with the theme of evolution and with both ladies' background in engineering, it was only appropriate to design their wedding with a steampunk flair, clean and geometric lines. To soften the design, we opted for warm fall tones of rust, copper, gold, with touches of ivory, champagne and pops of teal. One important decor element Stephanie kept bringing up was, "We want an urban feel, maybe something with brick walls". A new venue was still under construction, but we knew right away, this was THE venue, no questions asked. The Astorian is a gorgeous event space, nestled atop a restored warehouse, with a breathtaking rooftop view of our downtown skyline just a few minutes away. With restored cement flooring in some areas, curated tile artwork in other areas. Inspired to replicate New York City's Grand Central Station, beautiful decor elements include an oversized functional clock, about 8 feet tall and in diameter, curated ceiling art and an impressive chandelier. The Astorian covered all the important elements: Location, convenience, urban, industrial, one-of-a-kind.
